Double check you are recycling the correct items at home – your collection may have changed or you may be contaminating your recycling collections
Make sure everything for your kerbside ‘dry’ (eg. bottles, cardboard and cans collections) recycling collection is clean and dry.
Remember you can recycle smaller parts of packaging, just take it apart to recycle the bits you can.
Recycle your food and green waste at home by using a compost bin - if your council doesn’t collect directly from your door.
Recycle dirty foil by giving it a quick wash – you’ll be amazed at how many ‘burnt on bits’ actually come off.
Save on packaging in the first place by buying your fruit and veg loose in the supermarket.
Find a local charity location for bits your council doesn’t take, eg. milk bottle tops and clothes.
If you can’t find a recycling bin when you’re out, take your rubbish home with you - or at least the bits you know you can recycle at home.
Encourage your children to recycle from an early age – recycling may be a newer idea to most of us but it will become ‘the norm’ for them.
