There are many different metals used in many different ways for many different things, from building a house or car, creating electrical items such as computers or TVs down to a making pen or paper clip. We use metal every day in some way or another
Old scrap comes to the recyclers via a very efficient network of metal merchants, collectors, dismantlers and scrap processors who have the technology to separate aluminium from motor vehicles, household appliances, etc. This is often done using heavy equipment such as shredders, normally together with magnetic separators to remove iron, and sink-and-float installations to separate the aluminium from other materials by density.
Many local councils have recycling collections for clean foil nowadays via your kerbside collection or local Household Waste Recycling Centre
Recycling the change that you’ve been collecting in that old whisky bottle for the last few years now couldn’t be easier – many supermarkets have automatic coin counting machines for loose change (for a small few) so you don’t even have to count it up and take it to the bank anymore!
Older coins may be worth much more money than their original face value
Many charity shops will take old coins and antiques dealers may also be interested – if you think they contain any amount of precious metal such as gold, silver or platinum then it may be worth sending to an internet company such as Cash for Gold.
Such as Gold, Silver or Platinum can be recycled via a charity shop, or you could even make some money selling your unwanted jewellery etc. to an antiques dealer or sending to an online company.
